Kinect for Xbox 360, simply called, Kinect is a motion sensing input device by Microsoft for their Xbox 360 video game. The device enables the users to control, and interact with the Xbox 360 without having to touch a game controller. You do this by a natural interface by using natural gestures as well as spoken commands. When conceived the Kinect project was meant to broaden the Xbox player base beyond its initial player base.
Kinect was launched in different parts of the world at different dates. In the United States, Kinect was launched on November 4 2010. In Europe, Kinect was launched on November 10, 2010, while in Australia New Zealand and Singapore the motion sensing input device was launched on November 18th 2010. The product was also launched in Japan and this was done on November the 20th, 2010. From the above it is easy to notice that the last country where Microsoft launched their new piece of technology was Japan, in the east.
Kinect was expected to meet a lot of competition from other gaming applications in its category. These included Wii remote plus for use with Wii and the Playstation move which is used with Playstation 3
Kinect can be said to be one of the most successful products to have ever been launched. As of now, the motion sensing input device holds the world Guinness book of records as the fastest selling consumer device. Upon its launch, Kinect sold an average of over 130 thousand pieces a day which translated to over eight million units sold within the first two months. As of march 2011, over 10 million units of Kinect had been shipped to overseas markets. This makes kinect one of the most selling technologies in recent times.
When released kinect was available in several major stores in North America before it became available in the rest of the world. These stores included amazon.com, GAME, HMV and Argos.
There were ten Kinect Release Date set to be released that November. These included Harry porter Deathly hallows, EA sports active 2 and Zumba fitness.
Before and even after the release date kinect formerly called project natal created a huge hype. This was due to its ability to recognize players and respond to their body movements. The device is also able to take pictures during game play which players will be able to upload to social sites once the game is over.
Kinect Release Date was touted as one that would remove all barriers that existed to interactive TV controller. Ever since the kinect launch date, the gadget has turned out to be a must have for every holiday goer. It has simply become a must have item for the holiday seasons. This is attributed to a good marketing strategy where the gadget was not only introduced in different countries at almost the same time but also launched at one of the biggest toy shops in the united states. Another good thing with kinect is that when launched it was compatible with all versions of Xbox available at the time.
